Strange Festivals

There are many weird festivals celebrated throughout the world here are some of them.

Cooper’s Hill cheese Rolling and wake

It is an annual festival held in England. This is a traditional event which involves the rolling of round double Gloucester cheese and the people roll down the hill after this cheese. The first person who rolls and race down to touch the line at the bottom of the hill wins the cheese.

Monkey buffet festival

The monkey buffet festival is annually held in Thailand, where about 2000 kilograms of food and fruits are spread out for monkeys to feast on.  Here is a popular belief that these monkeys are descendants of a monkey warrior and therefore are known to bring fortune to people. On this one day large numbers of monkeys are left out to roam freely among people and have a lavish meal.

Blackawton International Festival of Worm Charming

This is a competition held in southeastern England, teams are given a square meter of land in the middle of a field and tasked with “charming” as many worms as possible to the surface from the soil-y lair in 15 minutes. Strategies vary wildly for charming the worms, the only rule being that you can’t dig them out. Some competitors woo the worms with song, playing out beats on the ground or melodies on a lute. Others opt to ape nature, sprinkling water on their patch of ground to replicate a soft spring rain.

Cat food festival

This festival is celebrated every year where various dishes of cat meat are cooked and prepared for consumption by people. People believe that cat meat is good for treating bronchi ailments.
